Demo Pump
I designed a demonstrative pump device based on the 3D scans of a customer's industrial pump. This Demo Pump is 3D printed and light enough for our customers' sales representatives to transport around the country to display at conferences and trade shows.
I developed a custom support system that reduced the material cost of our 3D-printed pumps by 94%. This support system uses multi-material printing on our Prusa XL to support the PETG parts with PLA. Normally this would cause significant warping but I created custom supports to anchor the PETG parts and prevent warping. These supports ensure stability and maintain part integrity during the printing process, as seen in the images above.
More custom supports can be seen in light grey in the images above.
Exploring the use of augmented reality to visualize the demo pump assembly to inform design changes.
Many iterations of each part were developed and printed. You can see a catastrophic failure on one of my early impeller designs above (in red).
Each pump was delivered in a custom pelican case.
To successfully deliver a project of this scale, I leveraged my knowledge of the 3D printing industry to research, prove out a business case for, and install a new fleet of 3D printers in our print lab.

- Thank you to the management at Celero Partners for giving me the opportunity to justify the need for these printers and giving me the chance to prove that I could produce a 100% return on investment in less than a year.
