AccuFlow Soil Injector
The objective of this project was to add a counting system to the AccuFlow Soil Injector. I chose to power my design by the actuation force of the handle so that this mechanical system would not need to rely on any electrical power.
Prototype V1
This is the initial concept for a lever system that would move the counter from the side of the mechanical assembly in prototype V1, to behind the assembly in prototype V2.

 After the design review of prototype V1, it became clear that mounting the counter on the side of the device would not provide sufficient impact protection.
Prototype V2
The mechanical counter activates after the shaft rotates 45 degrees. The existing handle provides a linear actuation force. Using these two known parameters, the location of the lever’s pivot point and the length of the lever arm were calculated to translate the handle’s linear motion into a 45-degree rotation of the shaft.
